Meeting of NHN KP-FATA Chapter with DG FATA Disaster Management Authority

On 03 August 2017 a meeting was held between representatives of NHN KP-FATA chapter and DG FATA Disaster Management Authority b Mr. Muhamad Nawaz. Objective of the meeting was to orient DG FAMA on role of National Humanitarian Network and to discuss the bilateral interests particularly FATA coordination mechanism.

The highlight of the meeting were:

• Provincial Chairperson KP-FATA b Mr. Azmat Khan orientated DG FDMA b Mr. Muhamad Nawaz on the network modalities. NHN is representing local/national humanitarian civil society on all tiers of Humanitarian Architecture and is playing key role at the advisory of Pakistan Humanitarian Pool Fund. DG was informed about the liaison role of NHN with all respective Government Departments.
• NHN recommended that a mechanism for coordination and communication shall be formed among FDMA and humanitarian stakeholders which will help us to ensure the smooth implementation of projects between FDMA. DG FDMA informed that they are already working on SOPs and soon will be able to share it with all concerned stakeholders.
• The question of NOC issue was raised by the NHN representatives and requested DG FDMA to review the procedures for NOC approval. In response Mr. Adil,B Assistant Director FDMA informed that they have relaxed the criteria and NOCs are being issued in 11 to 20 days to those organizations who fulfil the required criteria.
• DG FDMA – Mr. Muhammad Nawaz suggested that under the chairmanship of NDMA a consultative meeting should be held with all relevant stakeholders including Law Enforcement agencies to discuss immediate and long term challenges in FATA. NHN agreed to facilitate the suggested consultation at national level.
